Andy has worked with Animal Health in three roles:


ROLE: PROJECT MANAGER (May 2009 – Present)


Organisation: Animal Health (May 2008 – Present)

To assess the financial impact of operational, legislative, industry and internal developments against current budgets and future forecasts; the production and presentation of management information to the Board and key internal stake-holders to support decision-making in the strategic and operational developments across the organisation; and to promote cross-function and cross-agency working, identifying current and future operational priorities, and establishing the finance function as key to supporting, facilitating and directing the organisation.

Key Achievements:
Establishing a new team, objectives and reporting format for the Business Financial Planning Team.

Establishing strong links with policy making teams within the core department, and internally across the delivery divisions of the organisation. Developing systems and communication channels to improve management information and the delivery of successful outcomes.

Successfully costing and implementing a £3m contract with the Welsh Assembly. Costing and impact assessment for several cross-agency projects, as well as transfers in of new work. Planning for new funding and charging models for payment to industry subcontractors, which formed the basis of ongoing negotiations with trade bodies.


ROLE: FINANCIAL BUSINESS PLANNING MANAGER (May 2008 – Present)


Organisation: Animal Health (May 2008 – May 2009)

ROLE: BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP MANAGER (August 2007 – May 2008)


Organisation: Animal Health (Aug 2007 – May 2008)

To negotiate, implement and maintain a Service Level Agreement with Defra’s Shared Services Directorate for the provision of transactional services; to lead on specific internal projects, providing both financial and strategic input and direction, and to act as a bridge between both internal and external key project stakeholders; and to provide support across the main Corporate Finance function, including budget monitoring, process development and issues, and general support as required.

Key Achievements:
A grade promotion within 8 months of joining the organisation, and was awarded a high-performance bonus in his first year. He was invited onto the Future Leaders Scheme.

The negotiation of a Service Level Agreement (‘SLA’) with Defra’s Shared Services Directorate (‘SSD’) following a breakdown of the process, which occurred prior to my involvement; through a pragmatic and collaborative approach, Animal Health has become SSD’s most valued and respected customer.

The procurement and installation of the Filemaker database application across Animal Health’s Corporate Centre; and the creation of a ‘character’ that will be the symbol of sustainable development in Animal Health and the integration of this into a web and print strategy to promote sustainability within the organisation.
